Malayalam star Tovino Thomas is thrilled after winning the Best Actor award at an international film festival for his outstanding performance in Adrishya Jalakangal.
The honour was announced at the 44th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal. Sharing the same, the actor penned a note on his social media handles.
On Sunday, he released a statement expressing gratitude to the film’s director and producer for entrusting him with the role.

Taking to his X handle, Tovino wrote, “It’s great… to feel recognised. Extremely honoured and proud to have won the Best Actor award at the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal for Adrishya Jaalakangal. Being so far from your turf and still receiving such a warm welcome and acknowledgement for the work is truly remarkable. What a wonderful chapter Adrishya Jaalakangal has been! I want to thank and congratulate everyone who was part of the movie, especially my director and producers, for granting me this role. I wish the movie continued success. About Adrishya Jaalakangal
Adrishya Jalakangal, directed by Dr Biju, is an anti-war film set in an imaginary space. The film has music by two-time Grammy award-winner Rickey Kej. Actors Nimisha Sajayan and Indrans play prominent roles in the film, which has been produced by Ellanar Films, Tovino Thomas Production, and Mythri Movie Makers.
The film premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights International Film Festival (TBNIFF) before its theatrical release last November.

Last year, Tovino Thomas Tovino won the best Asian actor award for his role in the film 2018, Everyone is a Hero directed by Jude Anthony Joseph. Tovino is the first South Indian actor to win the Septimius award.
Tovino was recently seen in the movie Anweshippin Kandethum, directed by Darwin Kuriakose.
