The Municipal Councils of Lisbon, Loures, Setúbal and Vila Franca de Xira will once again mark the Cultural Week of Cemeteries, from 5 to 13 October, with several initiatives that aim to bring to the public the “stories that cemeteries hide”.
Among the various activities for the whole family that will take place this week are guided tours – daytime and nighttime – of the cemeteries in these locations, afternoons with open tombs, workshops, musical moments and lectures.

“For the first time, we will hold a Philosophy for Children workshop, in which we invite families to ask and answer questions about death, and a Death Cafe, a session to talk about death without complexes over tea, coffee and cakes”, wrote the Lisbon City Council in a statement, noting that children will also be welcome at the initiative.
This year, for the first time, Palmela City Council will also join the other municipalities and organise visits and other activities.
