“Until now, the postage stamp remains a learning media and philately object that is loved by the people. It was recorded that 10 million postage stamps were sold in the last three years. This shows that people still love collecting stamps,” Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said here on Wednesday.
The special edition Wood Dragon stamp has been issued to mark the upcoming Chinese New Year on February 10, 2024, he added.
At the launching event, Setiadi signed the first day of issue cover of the special stamp.
With the stamp, it is hoped that the people celebrating the Lunar New Year would see the government’s effort to support the cultural diversity in the community, he said.
“This is the launching of the Dragon zodiac stamp to celebrate the upcoming Wood Dragon Year. This is a government’s step to pay attention to our national culture,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pos Indonesia Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi said that collectors have been waiting for the Chinese zodiac (shio) special edition stamps.
He expressed the hope that the Wood Dragon stamp would hold a special meaning in the Lunar New Year that is filled with prosperity values.
“The launching of this stamp is aimed to celebrate the Wood Dragon Lunar New Year, which means prosperity and growth for all people,” he said.
The 2024 stamp catalog and the Wood Dragon stamp can be purchased from the nearest post office or online on the filateli.co.id website.
