McDonald‘s has announced the opening, in Rio Maior, of the chain’s 200th restaurant in Portugal, a country where it has operated for more than 30 years and where it employs more than 10,000 employees.
“With a presence in Portugal since 1991, with the opening of the first McDonald’s Portugal restaurant in Cascais, McDonald’s currently has more than 10,000 employees and more than 45 franchisees – local entrepreneurs responsible for managing more than 90% of the brand’s restaurants in the country “, highlights the company in a statement.
According to McDonald’s, the “historical milestone” of opening 200 restaurants in Portugal reflects the brand’s commitment “to continue creating value for the country, finding solutions that aim for an increasingly responsible operation at an environmental and social level, by supporting the communities where its restaurants are located, and generate employment opportunities, as each new opening represents the creation of around 50 new jobs”.
